Founded in 1987, MY-LEX has always been focused on making information easier to find, manage, and use. Its origins are rooted in content management and integration, beginning with founder Matt Moayedi’s work developing technology to search large volumes of data stored on compact discs. That early focus evolved into enterprise search, content integration, and data management technology capable of connecting multiple systems, sources, and formats.
Today, MY-LEX’s mission is to give public sector organisations lasting control over their information. That means making data searchable, structured, governed and accessible across systems, while supporting the legal, operational and audit requirements that shape public sector information management.
As Dutch government bodies prepare for new obligations under the EU AI Act and the new Archiefwet, this foundation becomes even more important. Organisations need to know what information they hold, where it came from, who can access it, how long it must be retained, and when it can be transferred, published, anonymised or destroyed.
MY-LEX supports this through an information layer that manages the full information lifecycle, from search, indexing, and enrichment to classification, retention, publication, archiving, and destruction. This gives organisations a classified, retention-aware, traceable and access-governed data foundation that supports compliance, auditability and long-term usability.
With MY-LEX, data remains accessible even when old applications and licences are phased out. Instead of a difficult lift-and-shift migration, organisations can preserve access to historical information, reduce legacy costs and maintain control over records across multiple systems and sources.
MY-LEX is now led by Matt’s sons, Sean and Mark Moayedi. The company is continuing to develop its technology around the needs of Dutch public sector organisations, with a focus on classification, retention, access, lineage, publication workflows and sovereign hosting.
MY-LEX is also exploring opportunities in legal, health, and other sectors where its solutions can create value by improving secure access, compliance, retention, and sensitive information management.
As part of Abingdon Software Group, MY-LEX gains the long-term support of a global software group while continuing to operate with its Dutch team, Dutch hosting focus, and established public sector expertise. Abingdon’s buy-and-hold approach gives MY-LEX the financial and technical backing to build on more than 35 years of product development, customer knowledge and infrastructure.
This partnership strengthens MY-LEX’s ability to support public sector organisations as the EU AI Act, Woo, AVG and the new Archiefwet place greater demands on data governance, auditability and digital sovereignty.
“We’ve been contacted frequently by interested parties but we always felt they were looking to make a quick purchase and insist on immediate changes. This never sat well with us, especially when we are a family run organisation with a strong team. That approach doesn’t value our hard work and the potential our business has.
Despite this, Sean and I realised that we are entering a new chapter and need the support of peers, ideally from a software group that could help accelerate MY-LEX and assist us as we realise this potential.
From the outset, Abingdon was very frank about their ‘buy and hold’ philosophy and made it clear they would respect our current structure and management team. They also have a clear vision, backed by expertise from the other companies in the group, many of whom share similar challenges to us. Giving us the network that we were looking for.”
